Since December 2014, EU law has listed 14 allergens we need to identify if they are used as ingredients in our standard cakes. Of the 14 allergenic ingredients, we regularly or occasionally use the following:
Cereal containing gluten – this is found is our standard plain and self raising flour
Eggs – eggs are used in all our sponge cakes and to make our royal icing
Milk – we use fresh skimmed milk in our sponges
Nuts – we use ground almonds in some of our sponge cakes, and other crushed nuts for flavourings in our cakes and buttercreams
Sulphur Dioxide – this is often used as a preservative in dried fruits which we use in our fruit cakes
