Have you met our Spiced Mince Pie Cupcake yet?

All this week we’ll be joining in with #MeettheMaker week with Joanne Hawker on Instagram. Joanne is a designer and illustrator and the founder of #MarchMeetTheMaker which I’ve done for a couple of years now. It’s a great way to  meet other like minded makers on social, and drive up your engagement – particularly on instagram.

This week it’s a 6 day photo challenge to tell our business story in the run up to Christmas.  We’ve been championing #shopsmall this year, and all my personal gifts have come from “the little biz people” – who I have great joy in supporting.

I decided for the photo challenge to introduce our 2018 cupcake flavour – the Spiced Mince Pie Cupcake. If you love Mince Pies, but don’t want to weighed down with pastry – then our cupcake will be perfect with your cuppa. We debuted this new flavour at the North Wales Tweet Up last week to rave reviews on twitter.

“Yummmmmmmy” Jannie Rawlinson

“Loving the cakes’ Helen Roberts

“Ooh cakes coming out, very enjoyable too” Tim Evans

“Naughty but nice” Jackie Whittaker

“Yummy cakes” Ghazala Jabeen

Truth is – not all mince pies are created equal.  Our favourite shop bought ones are the M&S Luxury Mince Pies – warm with a blob of extra thick cream! (naughty but ok if followed by a 5 mile walk)

When you’re all done with the mince pies (lovely as they are), and you’re craving something light and sweet with your coffee – enter our Spiced Mince Pie Cupcake. Light vanilla sponge flavoured with sweet mincemeat, topped with a perfectly whipped swirl of spiced cinnamon buttercream and finished with a sparkling snowflake.

Our cupcake will give you that cosy hygge feeling  – that warm spicy hug – and will go supremely well with a hot glass of mulled wine.  So ditch the pastry – who needs pastry anyway – and grab yourself one of these beauties.

Did I mention they’re pink?

If you want to know the real reason these cupcakes are so yum, it’s Granny Barnes we need to thank.  My Mum grew up in rural Yorkshire in a self sufficient idyll. Everything was homemade, including and especially the legendary family mincemeat. I’ve  shared the recipe on instagram so you can follow along and make a note.

Buttercream consistency and swirling techniques are a whole other blog for another day. It takes practice and time, but eventually they come out pretty good. Anyway I can’t give away all my secrets can I?

We’re taking orders now for our Spiced Mince Pie Cupcakes and all our other flavours up to Friday 14 December. Message or Email if you’re interested.

That’s all for now

Judith xx
