I’m an April baby so I’m a bit biased but spring birthdays are the best right?
I’ve just delivered a spring stunner to one of my most loyal customers. She has ordered at least 2 cakes a year since I started the business. And it got me thinking about how much I love yellow cakes. So I had a flip through the gallery and found a few more spring stunners.
There’s just something about soft yellows against a white background that oozes class. It’s simple, uncluttered and fresh.
Perfect for birthdays, golden anniversaries and christenings.
All the best things in life are yellow.
Lemon sorbet, poached eggs, custard, bananas, buttercups.
Yellow ochre was one of the first colours used in art. If you visit the Lascaux cave in France, you can see an ancient painting of a yellow horse and you’ll find yellow pigments used to represent gold in the Egyptian tombs and Roman villas.
In the early Christian church, yellow was the mark of the heretic dating from the time of Judas Iscariot and during the Holocaust Jews were forced to wear a yellow star.
In China, bright yellow could be worn only by the Emperor and his household; and VIP guests were welcomed on a yellow carpet.
In the West, we associate yellow with fun, gentleness, and humour. In the East, it is seen as the color of happiness, glory, harmony and wisdom.
Yellow is springtime so that means daffodils, crocuses, tulips. All the best flowers.
Enjoy them while they last.
