Big thanks to Kate Hamilton for inviting me to write a little piece on how to choose your wedding cake maker.

If you’re planning your wedding – CONGRATULATIONS! I’d love to chat about your cake and see how we can help make your day extra special.

I’ve included the text below …..

Let’s be honest, your wedding cake is the centrepiece of your day. Once your guests have had a good look at your gorgeous dress, the next big moment is to check out the cake.

Here’s our top tips

How to choose a wedding cake that’s impressive, delicious and memorable.

  1. Find a recommended and registered cake maker
  2. Gather your design ideas – photos, colour swatches and your invitation.
  3. Be as original as you like – from naked sponge with fresh flowers to sugar paste stack with handmade decorations. Your cake should reflect your personality
  4. Make sure you have plenty of cake to serve your guests – you can supplement with cupcakes or an additional cutting cake.
  5. A good cake maker will offer you a ‘tasting’ with a range of flavours to try. Why not have each tier a different flavour?
  6. Get the details of your order in writing so that payment and delivery arrangements are clear. Your Cake Maker should be insured so best to check this out before signing off your deposit.
  7. Expect to pay a deposit to secure your order, usually up to 50% and the balance a few weeks before delivery.
