Snowdonia 101
Did anyone else watch Netflix’s Skyscraper Live early on Sunday morning. If you know anything about me - you’ll know I’m completely risk-averse - gentle hill walking is the only sport I participate in, but I LOVE to watch exciting extreme elite sports. So watching Alex Honnold climbing one of world’s tallest skyscapers made entirely of sheet glass and steel, without ropes and harnesses, or even a parachute, was right up my street. What an amazing watch.
The nearest thing we have in North Wales to a skyscraper is the Snowdonia mountains with Eryri / Snowdon itself peaking at 3,560 ft. So If you find yourself stranded half way up a mountain in the Ogwen Valley and you call Mountain Rescue, it might just be Ryan that climbs up to rescue you, along with his excellent team at the Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue.
When he’s not selflessly helping stranded walkers, he loves to climb himself but apparently not “free solo” thank goodness - so what better what to celebrate his 50th than to make him a climbing cake.
Ryan’s wife chose salted caramel for the large 10” tier, and vanilla and jam for the smaller 8” tier. Both delicious crowd pleasing flavours.
This fab topper came from Victoria Jane UK on Etsy and it’s just perfect for Ryan perched atop the snowy mountains of North Wales.
Climbing might not be your thing. But head over to my Cake Gallery for some inspiration on your next big celebration.
That’s all for now
