BTS in my Easter Kitchen
Easter holidays have sprung, the weather is variable, and you need a family activity to keep everyone happy.
The good news is if you plan a cupcake decorating afternoon - you’ll have something delicious to eat at the end, or serve when Granny & Grandpa come round for Easter tea.
Come with me behind the scenes in my Easter Kitchen and see how I dream up the prettiest cupcakes, that you can make too!
First up, dig deep in your kitchen drawers for a rolling pin and a few cutters - you might find a few cookie cutters that haven’t seen the light of day for a while. Also a nice big board or table to work on
You’ll need a few sprinkles or decorating pearls in the colours of your choice. Supermarkets will have a small choice or you can get them online for next day delivery. Just make sure they’re edible toppers!
Next up, open a packed of edible modelling paste - either pre-coloured or mix the shades you want to use with edible food colouring. Keep the modelling paste in an air tight container until you’re ready to use, or it dry out.
Roll out a small ball of modelling paste and cut shapes, you can add embellishments with other kitchen tools.
If you’re feeling fancy, you can cut some flower shapes in different shades and dry them in an egg box, attaching the pearls with edible glue.
Once your toppers are dry to touch, they’ll be ready to assemble on top of a plain cupcake, with a swirl of buttercream.
Honestly, they don’t have to be as fancy as this! These were made for a photoshoot with Mason Cash - but hopefully this will give you some ideas for a fun afternoon at home.
If a box of gorgeous cupcakes takes your fancy for yourself or a gift for a friend, head over to my contact page and let’s get in touch. I can usually fit cupcakes in at short notice between the big cakes, so it’s worth a try.
That’s all for now,
Happy Easter
